Main Goal of this Section

Our main goal in developing this site is to educate students and teachers of the importance the Folsom Powerhouse played in California's history and in advancing the commercial application of electricity.

Objective

The objective of this section upon completion is to inform students at the elementary level about the role the Folsom Powerhouse played in California's history, about magnetism and about electricity, specifically, hydroelectric power. The teacher guides, this section will provide, can be used as a classroom tool in teaching children about these subjects.

Content

The example of content to the right will continued to be expanded as this section develops. Activities, experiments and teacher guides will all be presented in an interesting, accurate, clear and fun form. The guides will include topics that teachers need to touch on with their students regarding certain subjects and what they will need to know before touring the Folsom Powerhouse as a classroom or online. The online tour will not only be informative for the local area, but for students throughout California and all over the world. An online tour will include an actual tour through the Folsom Powerhouse using photos, graphics, virtual reality, music and text to guide students and the teacher through an informative and exciting part of history, learning about how water helps create electricity. Elementary level learning will be the focus of this section to start and may expand in the future to include upper level age groups stressing historical research and hydroelectric power. All materials provided in this section will be accurate and informative.

Support

Besides the guides that will provide teacher support, the Folsom Powerhouse online gift and educational shop will offer videos and books to be purchased as further support tools. Of course, an email address and phone number will be available for teachers who desire further information
